Jade

From Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy Wiki

The First Indigo Child, whose real name is Jade, is a perfectly pure human child, whose soul has never before been incarnated, and holds the ultimate secret; the answer to all questions (i.e. the meaning of life). Her coming has been anticipated since the beginning of time, with numerous factions competing to gain possession of her, as whoever hears Jade's message, will wield control over the entire universe. In appearance, Jade is an little girl living at the Catholic St Thomas Orphanage, an orphan as both her parents were deceased (how is unknown). She is also autistic, and doesn't speak at all.

The most recent factions hunting for her are the Orange Clan, the elite secret government that controls the entire world, the Purple Clan, a group of sentient artificial intelligences bent on becoming the dominant life-form on Earth, and the Invisibles, a secret neutral party monitoring all the world's clans and keeping the balance, and seek to keep her secret out of evil hands.

Each of these factions work in a certain way; the Orange Clan uses The Oracle to make seven ritual sacrifices a year for 2000 years, each time looking into The Wave and seeking Jade's location, the Invisibles, against their standard protocol, secretly alert NYPD Lieutenant Carla Valenti to investigate the Orange Clan's trail, and the Purple Clan secretly manipulates Lucas Kane to deliver the child to them, though are later forced to take the fight more openly when Lucas defects to the Invisibles.

As the countdown reaches it's end, Jade physically begins to weaken, destined to waste away and die upon giving her message. If her message isn't heard at all, mankind would cease to exist. In the end, however, Jade is brought comatose to Chroma Artifact at the abandoned Wishita Military Base (to any one of the three warriors from different factions battling for the child). Upon bequething her secret, Jade dies.

Jade was succeeded as Indigo Child by Lucas and Carla's unborn daughter.
